Do I need to install anything?
No. CrewSmart runs in the browser on any device, and the vessel app runs on iOS and Android tablets, offline when the boat is out of range.
What if I only want to use parts of the system?
Every customer gets the core: vessel register, certificates, compliance frameworks, fleet planner and the vessel app. On top of that you switch on the modules you need, Crew, Safety, Maintain, Supply or Projects, and add others later from your account.
How does CrewSmart's pricing work?
Per vessel per month, with unlimited users, so every deckhand, engineer and office user can have a login at no extra cost. Companies that run technicians rather than vessels are priced per active technician. Ask us for a written quote; it is fixed for 30 days.
How secure is CrewSmart?
Safeguarding your data is our top priority at CrewSmart. We rely on Amazon Web Services (AWS) for state-of-the-art security measures, providing you with peace of mind through advanced protection protocols.
Does the Planned Maintenance System (PMS) cost extra?
The planned maintenance system incurs an additional cost to your subscription. However, rest assured that all pricing details are thoroughly discussed before any agreement is made. We take pride in our commitment to transparent pricing, ensuring there are no unexpected costs or surprises along the way.
Will I receive any further updates?
CrewSmart is always being developed and improved. You will receive continuous updates & improvements as we release them at no extra cost.
Does it cover Workboat Code 3 and ISM?
Yes. The Safety module holds your safety management system, procedures, drills, inspections and corrective actions, with read receipts by vessel and the annual self-assessment, and the planned maintenance system is DNV type-approved. Book a compliance check and we will tell you where your fleet stands before 13 December 2026.
Do we own our data, and can we export it?
Yes. Your data is yours. You can export it at any time, and on termination we provide a full export and help with migration.
Where is it hosted?
On AWS in the UK, with daily backups, two-factor authentication and Microsoft Entra single sign-on. CrewSmart is Cyber Essentials certified.
